Working together for our shared heritage

The Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage (TCCH) is dedicated to the identification and safeguarding of the rich immovable cultural heritage of Cyprus and of all its communities. The Committee works towards providing a mutually acceptable mechanism for the implementation of practical measures for the proper maintenance, preservation, physical protection and restoration of the shared cultural heritage of Cyprus. TCCH aims not only to restore the monuments, but also to create an atmosphere for building confidence and a culture of peace on the island. Each conservation site is a reflection of the cultures behind it as well as an intersection of civilizations.

Since 2012, the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, with the support of the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has restored, conserved, structurally supported or physically protected, including with non-structural small-scale works, over 100 cultural heritage sites across the island. TCCH has also initiated a set of measures for digitising and bringing cultural heritage online to maximise access and visibility of Cyprus’ unique heritage. Through the Heritage Youth Ambassadors’ Initiative and educational activities, TCCH is also providing more opportunities for youth to learn about and engage in the protection and preservation of cultural heritage.
