Education is central to the mission of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage. The Committee actively works to create an interactive educational programme that gives the younger generation of the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots the opportunity to learn about each other and the cultural heritage of their island.

The TCCH, in partnership with UNDP, offers university graduates and undergraduate students the possibility to visit project sites while conservation works are ongoing. This gives students a behind-the-scenes look at the practical work of the Committee and how it aims to bring the Greek Cypriots and the Turkish Cypriots closer to their shared heritage. Moreover, students have the unique opportunity to meet and ask questions to experts from the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots (designers, workers, conservators etc) working side by side on a common project.

More than 2,200 students have taken part in guided tours to ongoing heritage conservation projects or attended presentations organised at their universities by the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage and UNDP.

In addition, the preparation of digital resources provides further opportunities for students from the Greek Cypriots and the Turkish Cypriots and beyond to learn about the rich cultural heritage of the island and the work of TCCH. These resources include virtual tours, which were first developed during the covid-19 pandemic, as well as an online multiplayer game on the Othello Tower, a 3D point cloud for Othello Tower with the use of terrestrial laser scanning technology and a Virtual Reality interactive visualization environment through the use of rendering and natural lighting simulation of the point cloud.
